Can I change the duration of Mavericks' notification 'bubbles'?

I like some of the new 'pop-up' notifications in Mavericks but most of them are plain annoying. I've disabled the majority, but the ones I've left on still seem to be around a little longer than I'd like.

Is there a way to change how long they show for?

Nope. I think Growl lets you do this. That might be an option depending on what notifications you're using.

Hmmm see I was using Growl quite happily until this new OS X update, but now I feel compelled to use this in-built one....
