my imac has image retention

its always white and light colors being retained

I know you can set color profiles in sys prefs but is there a way I can ONLY change white into a softer grey throughout my entire system to reduce the retention?

I think you'll have better luck setting the display-sleep time (in Energy Saver preferences) or enabling a screen saver -- the usual methods.

why would this help me? In the time it's taken me to type this reply to you, this window and this very text is being burnt into my screen. If I switch to another window it will still be burned in and wont go away for several minutes. A screensaver will only prevent burn ins if I'm not using the device.
