Can I connect my iMac to my TV?

I have a iMac G4, I know that there is monitor output and that I need a special cable for it.

But is it possible to connect my imac to my tv and then use a wireless keyboard and mouse? That would be very cool

And then would it be possible to watch dvd's or play games? But is it correct that my screen of my imac stays on all the time or will it power off, so that it will save video memory? Otherwise I assume that the games will be slower if I play them on my tv?

So first I wil need to buy the VGA Display adaptor from Apple, but this thing has only a screen output. But I'll need a composite output so that I can connect it to my tv.
Cant I buy something like this: Apple Video Adaptor
This is only for the ibooks? Why? Isnt there a solution for the imacs? Anyone tried this cable on the imac?
