Background: I've been using Pages for a while now and once in a while I need to LaTeX something quickly. I use LaTeXit and services; namely I type in the code, highlight it, and do the following: Pages > Services > LaTeXit > Typeset LaTeX Maths inline $...$. I could use TeXShop, etc., but I find that annoying to use when only part of a paper really needs to be typeset - especially when I am only taking notes.

My question: Is there a way to make this command an icon in the Pages toolbar itself? (Or, even a keystoke?)

Thanks.

I don't have the LaTeXit loaded, but I was able to create a keyboard shortcut for a service that is active in Pages (Long Date, which is part of the Insert service, which I believe is part of WordService.

Go to the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane
Select the Keyboard Shortcuts tab
Click the "+"
Choose the application (Pages, or all) and enter the exact name of the menu item.
Choose a unique keyboard combo.
Click Add.

Should work right then and there.
