Can I delete my photos from iPhoto after installing Aperture?

I've installed Aperture, and imported my photos from iPhoto.

Is it safe to clear my iPhoto library? If so, how would I go about doing this?

Depends. If you imported them into the Aperture library you can go ahead and delete them. This is probably what happened anyway. BUT if you referenced them, don't delete them. As for deleting them, you can probably do it from within iPhoto. Just trash them and then empty the trash.
