I am cleaning up my MacBookPro and noticed there are a number of update files in my Applications folder. The files include: SuperDrive Update, Trackpad Firmware Update, MacBook Pro SMC Firmware Update, MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update, Bluetooth Firmware Update, Adobe AIR Application Installer.

Do I need these files in my Application folder, or can I delete them?

Except for the last item, the rest of the update software is part of the OS. So, if ever needed to update the hardware you wouldn't be able to, unless you got it off the OS DVD. The last item is just for updating the software, so you could delete it. What I would do is backup all these programs to a DVD, just in case you found you needed them someday. How much space does this actually save?

Thanks. I am going to keep them where they are. It would only free-up about 34MB of space (not much). I didn't realize when I posted that the files were in the Utilities folder.
