iPhone Can I delete WhatsApp photos but still keep the images?

There is a folder called WhatsApp photos on my iPhone. If I move them to other albums using my MacBook, would I then be able to delete the WhatsApp album photo or will that also remove the actual photo from whatever album I have moved it to since that was just a placeholder? I like to periodically clear that folder and move each photo to its specific album (ie. Family, Personal, etc.)

All of your photos are saved to your camera roll. The folders actually just show links to the originals. To delete a photo from inside a folder you have the option to remove it from the particular folder or delete it completely (your phone will ask you).
