My wife and I will be switching from AT&T to Verizon when we get the new iPhones 12‘s (Max and Mini). We both want to keep our current phone numbers and port them over to verizon. Will we be able to do all that if we preorder the new phones on Friday or do we need to wait and go to a store to do that?

FWIW we plan on trading in our AT&T iPhone X’s as well.

I searched but could not find a clear answer when it comes to preorders and porting phone numbers.

Thanks!

How do you plan on preordering the phones? Direct through Apple? If so, just make sure you buy them in a way that’s fully unlocked (IUP, Apple Payments, full pay, etc) and then do the number porting after you’ve received the new phones.

Go to the Apple website right now and go through the ordering process of an available iPhone. When you choose Verizon it should ask if you’re looking to join or are a current customer. See what steps it gives you if you choose “new customer”.

that’ll tell you everything you need to know for pre-order.

I plan on doing this. I called Verizon a few weeks ago and walked through the scenario. My wife paid full for her 12 Pro and I will preorder on the IUP Friday the Pro Max. These were both ATT. When it comes I’ll then call Verizon back and sign up and bring my own devices (the new 12s). They are offering some gift cards for bringing your own device.
