I have a almost 2 week old i3 imac that was only opened and I rather have the new macbook pro, how is apple with swapping out systems? And how would I go about doing so if I am able. I have the proof of purchase somewhere would this be a issue if I can't find it?

It is not defective, and most likely they are not swapping for you. People who have success in swapping are for the same product line.

Yes. They can look up the machine based on the serial number, but you need all the packaging.
