I have a new 13" MBP arriving Thursday from Amazon. It comes with Snow Leopard installed but I have thirty days to order a free download of Lion.

Can I download Lion via the App Store without actually installing it?

I'm wondering because I have at least one legacy app that requires Rosetta and I am considering using SL until Lion matures a bit...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_6 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8E200 Safari/6533.18.5)

Yes. Just don't launch the Install application when it's finished downloading.

Yeah just download it via the App Store, and cancel the installer when it opens. It will remain in your applications directory, and just open it when you're ready.

Absolutely. When you select "Install" all it does is download the installer and launch it, but you can just quit the installer.

Great!

Thanks for the quick replies.

I guess that I won't be giving up Eudora any time soon... ;)

(Yeah, I'm THAT OLD!)
