I currently have a iPhone 5s with 16GB of storage that I recently purchased. I hardly filled up my previous iPhone so I figured that paying for more storage is not exactly a judicious use of my money. For example, I currently have over 8 GB free of storage. :D Which brings me to the reason of being for this thread, I tend to buy movies & tv episodes through iTunes in HD since I use my MacBook as a digital payer connected to my HDTV.

All is fine and dandy because I have enough storage on my laptop for downloading and storing HD files of my purchased content but I was wondering if there was a way of setting up my iPhone to download SD copies of any of my movies in order to save more space and store a couple of films for trips as such because I can't seem to find anything under settings or using the iTunes store app and Apple's support site isn't very helpful about it, it's kind of convoluted and all over the place regarding this. For those who don't know, when one purchases HD content on iTunes it actually allows you the choice of downloading either the SD or HD content unlike if you were to have only bought SD only. Is my only choice to download the SD file on my computer via iTunes or could I do the same on my iPhone directly ? thanks for any help you might bring.

By going into iTunes on any iPhone/iPad/itouch and navigating to the movie you own, scroll all the way down to "Also available in SD" click on that, then scroll up and click the download arrow.
