I have a MacBook Pro with a thunderbolt port. I want to be able to close the lid of my mac and display 2 different 1920 x 1080 outputs to 2 monitors. Is this possible via VGA, DVI or HDMI?

Would this work: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Mini-Display...ultDomain_0&hash=item19d446f868#ht_1882wt_956

Thanks so much

That looks like a cable splitter to me. It will display the same content on both monitors.
If you have retina MBP it is possible but with one port you must use thunderbolt replicator.
You can use two Apple Thunderbolt displays and daisychain them but its a costly solution. Maybe it is possible to use one TB Apple display as first device and then use displayport to connect second display but not sure if it is supported (also I think only 15 inch MBP can drive 2 external displays).
