I'm visiting a friend in Boston, starting January 10th and will be there for two to three weeks. I've been waiting to buy a new MBP. The best deal I've found so far is $2199 online, and while that's pretty good, I figured I'd wait until I visit the US to buy it there. The deals are better than they'd be in Europe.

Do you think prices will drop further after the Christmas shopping craze?

No. There have been several threads on this topic. If you search, you'll find them.

Thanks! I'm not a regular at MR or else I'm sure I'd seen that other people have asked this before.

I appreciate the quick answers. That makes things easier, I suppose. Not having to wonder whether prices will go down further.. and 2199 is pretty damn good compared to 2500 already.

Again, thanks.

Not unless there's an update in January, which would be a CPU bump at most. And I consider that unlikely.

No, unless you're buying off the open market, in which case I'd expect quite a few people selling their machines after Christmas (unwanted gifts) and the general depression in nigh about everything costs after a major holiday, it will be very minor though.

doubtful unless as someone stated you are considering a used machine. refurbs may hit in january as well.

I doubt prices will drop, but it's likely the refurbs will start appearing in Feb or so

high-end MacBook Pro an unwanted gift? I think it would be easier just to wait for 50% off discounts from Apple:)
