I've got some great designs for a web site I'm doing for a client. It will still look good in CSS and HTML, but I'd really like to add some Flash so the page is dynamic when it loads.

My knowledge of Flash is basically nothing, though I've made Flash animated videos using the animation palette in PS.

Specifically, I am looking to add these functions:

1) A semi-transparent, rounded box to drop down with the main text of the page (see how http://www.mariahcarey.com loads for an example of what I mean).

2) The main image to fade in from blurry to sharp (I did this on the site http://www.salimmusic.com in PS). I don't know how to INTEGRATE it into the rest of the site. Does the whole page need to be one individual flash file?

3) Fading text in the navigation menu (I think I've got this covered).

Basically, I am unfamiliar with how to design web sites in flash versus just creating flash videos.

Is this biting off more than I can chew?

Edit: I attached a JPEG of the design (green tint added to prevent stealing). My problem with making the main image fade in is how to separate it from the rest of the site -- it would need to have a transparent background so that the gradient is not interrupted.
