Can I get my iPhone swapped for a different colour

I'll be getting my defective iPhone replaced at the Apple Store soon. Does anyone know if they would replace my iPhone 6 with a different colour if I requested?

You can ask but they won't do it. They always always give the same color. But you can try asking. After all you miss 100% of shots you don't take.

Just out of curiosity, I've actually asked this in the past to some Apple Store employees that attended college with me a while back, and they told me that the only action they can take is to replace your defective/damaged model with the same color model/storage.

I suppose it never hurts to ask though.
