I'm pretty sure I can't do this, but I want to ask publicly to make sure.
Currently I have 4 slots filled with 4GB sticks each, 2 slots filled with 2GB sticks each, and 2 slots filled with 512MB sticks each for a total of 21GB of ram. Each are set up as pairs, but I was wondering if I could replace a single 512MB with another 4GB or if I have to add 2 sticks of equal size. I know mixing brands is a bad idea because there's latency/timing differences between brands even if they're of the same size, which makes me believe that mixing sizes is a bad idea, if not even possible, but is it possible? Will it accept it or error? My original assumption is that it will error but I ask publicly to get a more accurate and credible answer.
