can i hide an icon on the desktop?

so i installed a trancent jet drive into my pcmi slot on my 13" 2015 rmbp. the icon is constantly on the desktop. my ocd does not want this. how can i make that icon go away. if i need to access this i just open finder.

turn off external disks

Just be warned that checking that option will hide all external disks.
