Hi,

I bought a SSD for my Early 2008 MBP and want to do a fresh installation of Mountain Lion on it (I don't like Mavericks).

Sadly I don't have a USB Stick that is big enough to fit the 4 GB image ...

I found this guide here: http://shayashi.net/tech/installing-os-x-from-external-hard-drive/

I wasn't aware that that is even possible. I'm guessing he has a NTFS HDD (because who hasn't) - so is it?

Thanks

edit: I'm not really interested in an answer anymore, because I've realized I can't create a new partition without formatting. I guess I have to go buy a new USB stick.

You can't install Mac OS X from or to a NTFS partition, only HFS+. Many Mac users don't have a NTFS formatted external hard drive.
