Ok, I recently bought an imac used. I formatted it to get all the previous owners junk off, thinking I could use the disc to my macbook to install leopard. I quickly found out that doesnt work. I read a little about modifying the disc image and re-burning it, but it kinda seems like a pain. Can I install it on my imac through my macbook using a firewire cable? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Mac Install discs are only for that model. No, you can't use a MacBook install disc on an iMac. You need to buy the software.
The Mac OS X 10.5 installation disk that shipped with your MacBook ... is designed for use on this computer only and not intended for any other computer.

I think the answer is yes, as long as the iMac is older than the MacBook (hence the OSX supports the iMac too), and they are both Intel processors.

its very easy and will work. if it doesn't use Packfist

ps you can also edit the OSInstall.mpkg file (don't do it)
this isn't completely legit though. you can easily argue the legality of it either way
