Can i install windows on a partition that i created using disk utility?

I created a partition using disk utility named macintosh hd_2. Can i install windows on there or does it have to be in the boot camp partition? Can i install any OS in the partition that i created?
 
It's unwise not to use bootcamp to create the partition to setup windows, but you can install Linux onto the partition you've created using a Linux boot CD after installing rEFIt.
