Hello everyone!

I would like to get the LTE version of the Series 3 Watch for the iPhone integration and Apple Music when I am out running, working in the garage or yard, etc. My phone is a Verizon iPhone 6s on my company's account. So two questions:

-> Does the Watch's LTE service have to be on the same account as the iPhone's?
-> Do I have to use the same carrier? IOW, can I integrate a Watch on Tmobile with an iPhone on Verizon?

I don't believe so, because you need to have something like NumberSync (each carrier has a different branding name) or similar activated with the carrier on the watch... what that does is take the phone number assigned to the watch and relays everything to the phone number assigned to your phone. I don't think carriers can do this with numbers outside their service. As for the same account on the same provider, i'm not sure.... I would think so because the amount you pay is an add on to an existing account but can't say for 100% certainty.

Basic requirement: same carrier for both iPhone and watch, and same exact billing account as the paired iPhone.

So in your example, the easiest answer with the highest degree of integration: you would need to add your watch to your company's business account "if allowed" as in will your company pay for your watch's "Wearable line" in addition to your iPhone plan.

Another option would be to forward your company's iPhone number to a new T-Mobile iPhone line (Swap nano-SIM) that has a "Digits" line for your watch. Yes there are limits with forwarding but your example appears to be mostly for Apple Music integration. Let us know if you are not clear on the current limitations.

Bummer...that's what I thought. Time to decide if I should have a personal, non-work phone (like many of my coworkers). Thanks for the input!

This and for international travel is why I wish that Apple would have a dual sim in their phones... or at least an unlocked model with a dual sim.

My Verizon 6s works internationally. I frequently travel to Alphen, NL, and my phone works perfectly in EU countries. I'm not sure how SIM cards work on Verizon since they have gone GSM LTE instead of CDMA, but I assume the Watch SIM would work the same way. o_O

To keep the thread on topic, here is information on how the Apple Watch (GPS & Cellular) is supported anytime you roam.
  • Cellular roaming isn't supported outside your carrier network coverage area.
  • To cover the LTE and UMTS bands used around the world, Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) comes in three regional models – Americas, China, and Europe/Asia Pacific. Unlike iPhone, there isn't a worldwide Apple Watch Series 3 model that supports all cellular bands used globally, so it isn't possible for Apple Watch to roam.
  • When your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone or a previously joined Wi-Fi network, you can still use all the features of your Apple Watch, even if cellular isn't available.

Mine works fine in European countries too. I have t mobile and text and low speed data is included. The problem is I often travel to west Africa where it is both expensive to have a t mobile rate for the countries I go to, but also my African friends would have to pay an exhorbitant amount to call my US number. So I keep a separate flip phone for that purpose. I like to keep my T-Mobile sim in my iPhone because I can still make and receive WiFi calls and texts when I’m hooked up to a WiFi network.
