Alright, I'm curious if I can jailbreak and leave my phone on AT&T - since I signed my balls away for a 2 year contract. I'm using a Mac...if possible, where do I get started?

Yes, you can Jailbreak (and unlock) and not affect your current contract or service with AT&T.

Where do you get started? There are roughly a jillion threads on Jailbreaking on this forum. Do a quick search. Essentially, download QuickPwn 2.1 and follow directions. It's actually pretty straight forward.

I know, I didn't search. I figured theres a shotload of sites, just not sure if it's worth it, how does it effect the way I sync, etc. Risky?, bla bla bla

You can jailbreak and unlock (2g only). Neither will do anything to your ATT service. Mine is jailbroken and unlocked, and I still use ATT.

I thought that jailbreaking was ok, but unlocking could cause problems with AT&T service features - that's not the case?
Not for 2g phones at least. All AT&T features work w/AT&T-Cingular SIM.
AFAIK, All T-Mobile features seem to work? Not that there is much to work :p
3gs haven't been software unlocked ATM so no issues :D

I jailbroke both my 2G & my 3G

The 2G was on T-Mobile, and the 3G on O2 (obviously)

Depending on what iPhone you have you can jailbreak (an/or unlock) the iPhone and use it on any network.

Easiest way to jailbreak is to use quickpwn...search google

Wrong forum aswell btw ;)

when i jailbroke my phone i didnt have my service i couldnt find out how to fix it so i just went back to the reg iphone firm :) safe style

So as an O2 customer, I can quickpwn my phone, add non-AppStore apps, and still use iTunes to get apps at the AppStore and use my phone with O2? There are no sacrifices made? I like being a legit iPhone user as I know a bricking doesn't lie ahead.

I'm also a legit O2 user and jailbroke my new 3G iPhone the day i got it, I cant imagine living without winterboard, snapture, cycorder etc

The iPhone works exatcly the same if its jailbroken, you can still use all of the standard features

Edit - O2 not T-Mobile, been with T-Mobile for over 5 years gotta get used to saying I got an O2 contract now lol :p
