Can I leave my Lacie Rugged SSD connected to my iMac when not in use?

Hi

Just purchased Lacie Rugged TB SSD to use with Carbon Copy Cloner. I will only clone pnce a day at the most and probably a few times a week.

Can I just leave it connected to my iMac? Connecting and disconnecting each time is a drag I will NOT use the drive, other than to make a bootable clone.

What do you think?

Of course you can leave it connected... It's a hard drive not a delicate flower.

I leave a solid state drive on 24/7 inside of my iMac....

Seriously man, it isn't an issue. If you want some reassurance, the OS will automatically put it to sleep when it isn't being written to.

Sleeping an HDD spins down the drive. Sleeping an SSD just puts it into an idle, standby state.

Can't spin down an SSD.
