Hi, I recently uploaded this clip to my you tube channel.

The clip is in 1080p but when I open it, is played in 480p. How can I make 1080p the default setting for everyone who views it?

As far as I know that's a user-side setting. Again, if I'm not mistaken, it's default is to start playing at lower res and the. Switch over to high when it buffers a bit.

Problem with having it be on the content provider's end would be that if the viewer's internet is slow or computer doesn't have a great monitor they won't be able to display 1080 properly.

Agreed..

I dont believe you can force it to open at 1080p for others, but I know on your side you can add an HD youtube extension in chrome that forces all videos to open in HD.

What you say seems true, I've checked out some other HD-clips, uploaded by the professional music industry. On my computer do they also start in 480p, but like Unami said, when I add &hd=1 to the url it immediately switches to HD.

Thank you for the feedback!
