This may have been covered somewhere already (apologies if so). I just bought a new 8-core Mac Pro. I'm wondering if I can simply move the bootdrive (10.6.6) from my current 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core machine into the new machine and just keep going. Will that work? Any danger in trying it?

Should work fine.

The 'rule' is that you can't use an OS version from before the release date of the machine you're using. But the current Mac Pros were released before 10.6.6, so you should be fine.

Of course, you have an up to date backup of all your data anyway, yes?

It'll work on the 2010's from 10.6.5+. Your old HD is probably a lower performer though.
