Can I move the timemachine store to another partition or drive?

Is there a way to do this?

I have been trying to just copy it to another partition, but it errors out with nothing copied. I could certainly change the drive selection in timemachine, but I think that will just create a NEW backup, and not copy over the historicals?

anyone done this?

Just create a new one, it would take about the same amount of time to move the backup you already made even if you could (I'm not sure you can without confusing Time Machine).
