um, so i've misplaced my iphone... probably in my house or car and don't have any friends around with an iphone. is the find my iphone feature seriously restricted to other iOS devices? how could apple not have some sort of web based interface so i can make my phone make a sound to make it easy to find?

while the find my iphone app isn't useless, it sure appears to be if you aren't around someone else with an iPhone or iPad.

the feature would basically be a joke without access to its full functionailty available on the web. i couldn't find any information on apple's website to indicate otherwise though?

How are you searching? If you aren't using Google you should try it sometime. If you are you might want to look at the keywords you're using in your searches though I didn't use any special keywords or search modifiers. This was a very straightforward search IMO:

Locate your iPhone on a map.
People misplace things all the time. Fortunately, if you lose your iPhone, Find My iPhone can help. Go to Settings, tap iCloud, and enable Find My iPhone.* Then if you misplace your iPhone, you can sign in to icloud.com from any computer web browser or use the Find My iPhone app on another iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to display its approximate location on a map. It’s easy to activate this feature on your iPhone. All it takes is a few easy steps.
