I have an external hard drive that saves all my info. All photos, videos, documents etc.

One folder I have holds all my taxes. I’d like to password protect that folder. How can I go about doing this. Any way to password protect such a folder?

I've not found an easy way to do this.
Perhaps I wasn't looking in the right places.

However...
There's "another way", and I find it works well enough for me.

Use disk utility to create a small new disk image file (".dmg") somewhere on your hard drive.
You can specify it to be whatever size you need, from about 10mb on up.
During the creation process, you can set it to be encrypted and specify a password.
Now, put your sensitive files onto the new dmg (it can have a folder/file hierarchy inside).

When dismounted, it requires a password to mount.
That's what you want.
DO NOT store this password in your keychain, if you do, it will mount automatically and you DO NOT WANT this to happen. You want the password to be required to mount it!
