Can I password protect a program?

I would like to make it so that the OS mail program asks for a password when you open it. Is this possible? My machine is at work, and I don't want people going into my mail.

Just enable Fast User Switching (System Preferences...->Accounts->Login options). Then use it to switch to the login window when you leave your desk - nothing will be closed, but your apps and files will be safe.

That's better than password protecting an app, which is messy.
