Rather than waiting for it to be delivered, usually in the afternoon for my neighborhood, can I ask FedEx not to deliver the package so that I can go pick it up early myself?

Will FedEx hold my package not even attempting to deliver at least once?

I've never had any luck with that. They always require one delivery before holding a package. Rather frustrating especially since it would probably save them on gas!

I would directly ask FedEx this question. But, I can't even find their number or email address on their website.

If most FedEx depots are like my local one, trucks are loaded and on the roads by 5:00AM. In my experience you cannot schedule a pickup until at least 1 delivery attempt was made.

I'm also lucky that my FedEx guy comes between 9:00 and 11:00AM :) My UPS guy comes at 6:00PM every night like clockwork.

I cant stand UPS. I have lived in 9 different places since 1999 and UPS has always come between 6 and 7 pm no matter where I was living.

Yep, sort-of.

As a shipper we used to do that often... BUT if you follow preferred Fed-Ex procedure the request has to be by the shipper, at the time of entering the package into the system. (hold for pickup option)

It will be luck if it works any other way, but it has been done.

it can be done. it's kind of hard to do though without a tracking number. if you have the tracking number give 'em a call early before the trucks roll out.
