Can I play music on Apple TV using Apple Watch?

Currently, I use my iPhone to play music through Apple TV. When I get my AW2, can I use it to control the same music? i.e. it's streaming from my phone but I can pause/skip tracks etc from the watch?

Would I need to start the music from my phone, or can this be done via the watch as well?

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I don't own an Apple Watch so I'm unfamiliar with this area of functionality.

I've found lots of material explaining how to play music directly from the watch to headphones, or from the phone, but not much about the more niche functions, such as using the watch to initiate music play back from the phone to Apple TV.

Is this controlled via the Remote app or via the Music app on the watch?

Music App if controlling the iPhone Music App (and AirPlaying) or the Remote App if controlling iTunes or the TV directly.
