This is going to be my first year being on AT&T Next (the 12-month option). I had to sign up for Next instead of Apple's iPhone upgrade program last year due to moving into a new house and bad timing with my address on my credit report, yadda yadda. Anyway, I would much rather preorder via apple.com but I have no clue if I am able to do that if I'm on AT&T Next. Anyone have any experience with this? Or do I have to go through att.com?

Also, can I just drop my old phone off at an AT&T store when I receive my new one? What's the deal with that?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: Crap. There are plenty of other threads asking this question. Sorry mods. Feel free to delete.

Since your post is still here I will answer real quick. I upgrade each year via the Apple Store app and sign up for Next in the process. Two years ago I went with the ATT main site which worked but it took longer to get my phone than people that used Apple directly.

When you do upgrade you cannot drop your phone at the store. You will be sent in the mail a return kit that has a box and label to send it back to a warehouse for credit. I would rather hand my phone to someone who can clear me of the device right away but the stores are not setup for it so you have to mail it and wait/hope they process it correctly. They have the past 2 years but I still would like an in person option.

I have ATT next 2 devices and both is done billing cycle
so i am ready to upgrade free at apple .com this season

very exited
