You can definitely charge with a wall charger, but I believe you have to have one that's designed for either the touch or the iPhone.I have had and used this thing for the last year,it's great with one caveat.The Mini Surge Protector's powered USB outlets cannot be used as a USB hub or for transmitting data.

Does anyone know if it charges as quickly as the Apple power block?
 
It outputs the standard 5v 500ma output so will charge at the same rate that any apple iPod/iPhone wall charge kicks out.

Charge time will be no different.
