I was trying to back up some stuff on my external hard drive and I dragged my "Documents" folder over to it. I had done this in the past so I already had a documents folder on my hard drive and I stupidly hit "replace", not realizing that I had deleted some things off my computer that was on the hard drive.

So, the files I want to recover were originally present on my external hard drive, and not on my computer. When I hit replace, referring to the Documents folders, I guess it deleted these files because they were not in the newere Documents folder.

I have not unplugged the external yet and I was wondering if there was somewhere I could find these files? I checked the trash and did not find them there. If anyone could help me I would really really appreciate it as I threw away some very important documents! Thank you so much!!
