I have the "map" as an illustrator file but I want to incorporate shadowbox in to it - is it possible?

Also, can someone point me to a tutorial about scrolling left and right alnog the map?

Cheers for any help.

Want a simple answer?

Yes.

Tutorial for map scrolling: http://www.rnel.net/tutorial/Flash/8185

If you mean shadow effects, sure, it's built into object properties in Flash. If there is a proprietary framework you're referring to, I'm guessing this: http://board.flashkit.com/board/showthread.php?t=773465 should help you.

You should consider pan and zoom effects which are well documented on the Internet in terms of Flash tutorials, just start googling, but its wise to get the map setup first using the tutorial above before attempting. I also hope you provide an HTML alternative such as you have now. Not that you said you wouldn't but please ee wary of Flash only sites, i.e. no HTML alternative, because that requires users to possess a proprietary plugin (Flash) to view your site when you should allow both options.

I'd like to go with a panning effect. I can use flash but I'm a designer not a programmer so just wanted to make sure it was possible.

Any particularly good tutorial sites anyone cares to recommend?
