My son has misplaced his ipod and it shows up as being in our house but we cannot hear it. I think he has the volume set very low or off. Does anyone know if I can have it play the remotely transmitted sound louder or if I can turn up the volume????

You cannot. This is one bad feature of the Find My iPhone/iPod touch/iPad. Even though it'll play the sound, on an iPhone at least, when the phone is on vibrate it'll obey the volume settings. Apple should offer some way to play the sound no matter what at full volume.

On the Find my iPhone page, it says...

"Make it play a sound even if it's in silent mode."

That's for iPhone's only since they have silent mode. Even on the iPhone if it is in silent mode it will obey the sound volume set. The iPhone has two volume settings, one for the ringer (silent mode is no ringer), and the other for all other sounds.

I will need to run some tests. We have since thankfully located the iPod but I think if Apple does not have it already playing the sound at full volume should have some sort of remote (minor) control to allow the volume to be turned up.

BTW, I am also Mikebike125 (the OP) I just have two accounts (accidentally).

Maybe Apple copied paste the iPhone info, or maybe this is for most updated iOS:

you can tell Find My iPod touch to play a sound that overrides the volume or silent setting.
