I'd quite like to hide my backup partition from my desktop and maybe the device list in the Finder too since I'm only ever going to use it for Time Machine. Is this possible?

Secondly, is it possible to somehow display FAT32 names not in all capitals? I have a drive called "COMMON" that I use for transferring stuff between OS X and Windows and it looks ugly on my desktop, I'd rather it were "Common".

Any ideas?

I've used Kilometer to set hard disks as invisible so they don't show in the Finder.

Apps can still use the drive if you tell it where it is (kilometer allows you to drag items inside a hidden disk to an open dialog box to get apps to find hidden disks).
