Can I rename "Installer.pkg"?

Will renaming an Installer.pkg file mess anything up with installing the app? Just wondered if it needs to keep the original file name.

Just want to rename a few installers so I know what they are for future but want to make sure they'll work after renaming and won't install incorrectly.

yeah should be fine although you could always just create a new appropriately named folder and dump the installer in that.
