Can i restore my 3GS to original iOS 5?

I hav an iphone 3GS baseband 06.15.00 which was running jailbroken and unlocked(ultrasnow) iOS 5... i want to know, if i restore it using itunes to original iOS 5, am i gonna lose my precious unlockable baseband????and i will appreciate if some one explains the conditions when the baseband changes...i mean upgrades or something..
