I am having a number of issues with my iPhone 4 and most "first steps" to try to resolve them are to do a restore. I started this process this morning and it appears that the only option I have is to "restore and upgrade." I really don't want to go to iOS 6 given the map issue and concerns about battery life, etc. Is there a workaround?

They only way to do this is if your currently JB and have your shsh blobs saved.

Go to settings---> general ----> all the way at the bottom it says Reset ----> Erase all content and settings.
