Can I return my 5s and instead order online?

So I got a 5s 32gb grey model cuz they sold out of white ones. I really can't take the black anymore. I mean it's a really nice phone but I just am a white iPhone kind of person. So my question is, can I go and return it back to apple store and my upgrade will come back? So I can order online and wait till October? How much time does AT&T usually take to put it back?

Yup, but it may take a day or two for the system to record your upgrade, so you'll have to wait.

it's only been taking some people a few minutes, but ATT will quote you 24-48 hours to be safe.

I returned my iPhone 5s to the Apple Store yesterday. My AT&T upgrade eligibility was reset within 10 minutes.
