Can i run 4GB + 2GB ram?

Hi guys i just picked up the intel 160GB SSD and a single 4GB ram stick, now i'm familiar with PC's built my EVGA SR-2 i980x desktop, but i'm wondering on the macbook can i run 4+2GB to total 6GB?

It will *work* but it's best to stick with two matching sticks of memory.

Which one you have?

Concerning matching sticks, it will enable dual channel which gives you an additional ~10% boost in memory performance

i have the latest 6.2 macbook pro 15 i7 model

and i picked up corsair 1066mhz ddr3 4gb single stick

I think you can but as far as I can tell dual-channel mode for RAM will be disabled.

Go ahead and do it. Dual channel really makes no difference in real world performance. You wont notice a difference at all, except for the fact that performance will increase due to the additional 2gb of ram.

i basically have the same question as karkid.

i have a macbookpro 15 8,2 2GHz i7 and have just purchased another 4gb of ram for it as i need it to stop freezing/crashing everytime i use adobe after effects.
i intend to buy another 4gb ram to accompany the first one (once i find more $$$$ to do so) but would like to know until then will the 2gb + 4gb play together nicely?

Yes it will work.

Half true, it will work perfectly fine however there is a very minor performance decrease. Matched RAM sticks are ideal but not necessary.
