With the big announcement of FF14, I am pretty excited, but I'm fairly certain my iMac will be able to run it. It plans to use Direct X10, which is Vista only which is problem 1 right there.

But anyhow, is it possible to hook up a PC tower to my iMac and pretty much use the iMac purely as the Monitor?

I'm assuming not, but if you can, that would be great.

No to the monitor. But why on earth would you thing about dooming your iMac to a life of servitude to a PC?

Just buy a cheap monitor
The performance would be better than trying to route through the iMac

1- why do you have a PC tower without a monitor to begin with? :p

2- FF13 isn't even out yet, and FF14 won't be out until at least this time next year; by that time you could easily save up for a monitor. After all, because the game isn't even out there's no need to worry about it right now ;)

Why don't you just use bootcamp to boot into Vista?

As mentioned, there's no zero-lag way I know of to use the iMac as a monitor, aside from actually cracking the case and hacking the hardware... which doesn't seem like a good idea.
