When I get my MBA on wednesday I want to use my old MBP as a server.

Will there be any problems running it 24/7?

To keep battery cycles going I have a solution where I set a timer to turn the power supply off 3 hours every night.

Other problems I'm not thinking of besides that?

Thx

Good air circulation is important too and a backup HDD in case the internal HDD fails.
As for the battery:

Thanks for the battery info! I'm looking at different laptop coolers right now. So if I keep it cool and the battery working, I won't have any problems?

You shouldn't, depending on the workload you require of that server, as the HDD is also a part that can fail due to much action. Therefore my proposal to have a backup HDD (can be 2.5" in a USB enclosure) connected to the server and you can also use CarbonCopyCloner to clone the entire internal HDD to the external HDD every day if you want.
