Instead of buying XP or whatever can I use that free one that appears to be out? I need a Windows OS for some stuff to run .exe but I refuse to buy it. I know Mac has software to emulate it but a lot of the .exe files i use don't work.

Will I be able to run Windows 7 in boot camp for a OS in the place of XP or Vista?

You can, download it from the Microsoft site

Its only a beta remember, not the real finished version, so will only work until the real version comes out, which is July/August time.

Sorry, but if you NEED a windows OS to run some apps then you should BUY a windows OS. Plenty of people on this forum have done just that and use it with VMware or Parallels or Bootcamp. If you "refuse to buy it" then you should live without it. Don't try to have it both ways.

I don't need it, the applications do. ;)

Well, perfect timing as usual.

Does anyone know how i can safely install Linux? I've seen directions but im so afraid i might mess up.. is it worth it?

Which version of Linux do you need? Redhat, SuSe, Ubuntu or a simple Unix? You do know they're all different dont you?
And .exe files will probably only work with Windows anyway.

Buy a cheap version of XP, but from a respectable retailer, install it using Bootcamp, and away you go.
