I gave up on getting updated iphone software, and reunlocking, because my phone is so old, I decided to just quit pushing my luck and be happy with what I have. Maybe Santa will bring me a new iPod?

My iTunes is 9.0.2. My phone is the very first iPhone, says I'm running version 3.0.

My question is, can I safely get iTunes 10 without bricking or locking it? Like I said, I don't want to change anything with the phone, I would however really like to play around in the new iTunes.

Thanks very much for any help!

I'm sure others with the original iPhone will chime in, but from my understanding your iPhone "classic" is always unlockable. I don't think you'll have any issues with the latest iTunes (10.x).

Anyone else know different?

As long as you don't update the firmware to stock you won't relock it. You can go to 3.1.3 via redsn0w and use bootneuter to unlock however.

Thanks very much! I successfully updated to the current iTunes and my phone is just fine. I appreciate the help!
