I've had the same lock screen photo for about 10 years now. The photo isn't on my phone anymore, and it was from before I used iCloud. I'm sure it's on my computer somewhere, but my pictures are not very well organized, I'm ashamed to admit. I want to edit my iOS 16 lock screen (especially that clock font) but it seems to require me to pick a photo before I can do that. Since I don't have it saved, that won't work. Am I missing some way of keeping the same photo? If not, is there a way to save that photo first? It must be saved somewhere on my phone, I just don't know how to find where. Thanks!

The answer to all of that is simply no unfortunately. You will have to find the original if you want to customize your Lock Screen and keep the same image. There's no special place to access it if it's not in your photos.

Apple certainly could've done better with the implementation.

Thanks for that, even if it's not what I was hoping for. Guess I need to go through my photos anyway...
