Hello. I have set up a website for my daughter’s school athletics and I am working on getting it to go viral. People are liking it and I would like to encourage them to add the website as a bookmark on their home screen.

Is there a way I can share a link that, when clicked on, will add a bookmark to the recipient’s home page? I thought perhaps I could do it through Shortcuts but now it’s looking like I’d have to make the Shortcut - which honestly I don’t think I can since it doesn’t seem like “Add a Bookmark to the Home Screen” is a Shortcut action - and then they’d have to download it and then run it.

Furthermore, I’m aware that I can make a Shortcut that goes to a URL but they would have to add that to their home screen manually and then running it isn’t as smooth as a bookmark because it runs through the Shorcuts app on the way.

So the question is: can I somehow seize control of someone’s phone sufficiently to force it to add a bookmark to the Home Screen just by their clicking on a link. The goal is to make this as easy as possible for them.

What has been the norm since the iPhone debuted is to do an overlay at the bottom of the page that tells people to click the share sheet icon and Add to Home Screen. You otherwise can't have it do it automatically.
