Can i still go to apple if i update 3.0 right now?

Does anyone know if i can go to Genius Bar and have them look at my iphone if i updated or i have to wait till the "official update"

I took my phone in today with a crack in the plastic. He looked at my phone enough to see I had 3.0 and we talked about it. It is fine to take it in with 3.0. I just simply said I got it because a friend had me on his developer license.
