Today I became another proud owner of ipad air :D

I refused to buy one until a JB was in place as i cannot live with the restrictions placed by Apple. I was hoping to upgrade the ios to 7.06 before trying the evasi0n jail break but have had no success with this.

I tried to upgrade the firmware using the 7.06 IPSW with iTunes restore procedure but it kept failing. The ipad would go into recovery mode and itunes error "unknown error occurred (3194)"

I have troubleshooted the hosts file etc without any joy.

Should i be able to upgrade to 7.06 still or has apple blocked this ?
Is there a way around this ?

If i'm stuck with 7.04 are their any cydia patches available to address the security issues with 7.04 ?

You cannot upgrade to 7.0.6, only 7.1.

Yes, SSL patch by Ryan Petrich

nope, you're stuck to stay on 7.0.4 if you want to jailbreak. the only firmware you can restore to at the moment is 7.1, which you would not want to do if you want to jailbreak

there is SSLPatch from cydia to address the SSL bug that exists in pre 7.0.6 versions
